England begin day five hoping for early wickets - but left-arm seamer Ryan Sidebottom's stiff back may limit their bowling options

Resuming his innings on 102 not out, Neil McKenzie picks up where he left off on Sunday as the runs continue to flow

Hashim Amla has to facea number of short-pitched deliveries early on, and is hit in the midriff by James Anderson

Captain Michael Vaughan shuffles his field, placing a number of fielders in catching positions on the leg side

But McKenzie is in full flow, forcing the England close fielders to take evasive action

And Amla reaches his ninth Test fifty as the tourists reach a healthy 312-1 at lunch, trailing England by just 34 runs

South Africa briefly have three batsmen at the crease as Graeme Smith (left) returns to the middle as a runner for the tiring McKenzie

But McKenzie's marathon innings is finally ended on 138 when he edges James Anderson to keeper Tim Ambrose

The departing McKenzie earns the applause of the MCC members after batting for a day and a half

McKenzie is replaced by all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who makes just 13 before being bowled by Ryan Sidebottom

But just when England look to be turning the screw, a couple of catches are put down - with Alastair Cook dropping Ashwell Prince

Monty Panesar bowls a long spell, but remains wicketless despite bowling more than 50 overs

As the game drifts towards a draw, some of the South African squad members on their balcony join in with a Mexican wave

And shortly after Amla gets a huge ovation for reaching his own century, a draw is agreed

Shortly after play finishes, it is announced that Andrew Flintoff will return to the squad for the second Test at Headingley

However, fitness concerns remain over Sidebottom and Stuart Broad, who picked up an ankle injury late in the day
