Kasprowicz announces retirement

Michael Kasprowicz
Kasprowicz was a member of Australia's 2005 Ashes side

Former Australian Test bowler Michael Kasprowicz will retire after Queensland's match against Western Australia on 16 February.

Kasprowicz, 35, who played for Essex, Leicester and Glamorgan, said it was time to give Queensland's younger pacemen a chance.

Last season, he bowled just nine deliveries because of injuries.

And after 38 Tests, 43 one-day and two Twenty20 internationals, he lost his Cricket Australia contract.

Kasprowicz made his first-class debut as a 17-year-old in 1989-90 - and took 113 wickets at an average of 32.88 with a best of 7-36 in his Test career.

He will finish as Queensland's leading wicket-taker in the Sheffield Shield with 437.
