Lack of respect cost us - Ponting
Ricky Ponting in action in Cape Town
Ponting made just eight before losing his wicket
Captain Ricky Ponting said Australia needed to change their attitude towards the World Twenty20 after their shock five-wicket defeat by Zimbabwe.

"I think it's a mental thing for us - we've got to start respecting the game a little more and think about what we have to do," said Ponting.

"Our batting was diabolical, you can't afford to get off to those starts and that's where we lost the game."

Australia could now be eliminated by England when the sides meet on Friday.

"Words can't describe the win. It was an all-round brilliant performance," said man-of-the-match Brendan Taylor after Zimbabwe's rare win.

"Hopefully this will cheer the people of Zimbabwe."

Jubilant Zimbabwe captain Prosper Utseya was full of praise for wicket-keeper Taylor, whose 60 runs from 45 balls proved to be the decisive innings as Zimbabwe won the Group B match in Cape Town off the penultimate ball.

"We needed someone to bat sensibly and Brendan Taylor did just that," said Utseya after completing a lap of victory with his team-mates.

"(Opening partner) Vusi Sibanda was aggressive and that's what we needed."

Utseya admitted he would have bowled first had he won the toss.

"I did not know what is the best score (on the wicket), so I was going to bowl first and give our batsmen the best chance to score the runs."
