Twenty20 cricket - world domination
Twenty20 games are now part of the international calendar
Despite its success, the International Cricket Council and some countries - particularly India - remained suspicious of Twenty20.

But big crowds saw Australia face New Zealand and England in 2005 as its popularity kept growing.

Inevitably, the ICC had to look into a world championship and by February 2006, 13 countries wanted to stage it. South Africa were named 2007 hosts and England will be hosts in 2009.

Within four years Twenty20 has become a global phenomenon and many are now talking of it replacing the increasingly maligned 50-over format as the main form of limited-overs cricket.
