Ryan ten Doeschate
Ten Doeschate polished Scotland off with almost half the overs left
Top scorer Ryan ten Doeschate was delighted after the Netherlands ended their 2007 World Cup campaign with an emphatic win over a poor Scotland.

Ten Doeschate hammered an unbeaten 70, sharing an unbroken 103 with Bas Zuiderent, as the Dutch raced to their target of 137 with 26 overs left.

Ten Doeschate said: "To finish the tour on this note was very important.

"It's been a tough two weeks so it was important we finished with a win. We'll have a bit of a celebration tonight."

The Netherlands' star with the ball was Billy Stelling, who ripped the heart out of the Scotland batting with 3-12 from eight overs.

And Ten Doeschate said: "He was great - he did it against South Africa too, and it was a great spell.

"I think the wicket flattened out by the time we batted.

"I knew we'd get that target, but I didn't think we'd get them that quickly. It seemed the right thing to do to power it."

We showed today we should be playing at least at county one-day leve

Jeroen Smits
Netherlands 'keeper

Wicket-keeper Jeroen Smits, who replaced Luuk van Troost as captain after the latter was dropped, said: "We are always a confident side.

"I think we are not worse than teams like Ireland, Scotland, even Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

"We can do the same as them on the day. We haven't done the basics that well - South Africa and Australia came hard at us - and it was difficult against them."

Smits called on support from the England and Wales Cricket Board to provide support by inviting them to play in domestic competitions.

He said: "We don't have any support from the England and Wales Cricket Board, so it will be difficult for us.

"We have to do it ourselves. But I think we showed today we should be playing at least at county one-day level.

"I don't think it's a good thing that they invite Ireland and Scotland and they leave out Holland."
