West Indies captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul did not try to hide his team's shortcomings after a 379-run defeat by Australia in Brisbane.
They have lost 16 of their last 23 Tests and won only twice.
"It's probably the worst we've had so far. It was a good batting wicket and our batting line-up needs to put more runs on the board," Chanderpaul said.
"Everybody came into this game full of confidence and everybody's disappointed with our performance."
Chanderpaul only managed nine runs in his two innings and admitted the onus was on him, Brian Lara and Chris Gayle to raise their game.
"Whenever Brian or Chris Gayle or myself get out, it's a big blow for us. Hopefully one of us can get a start and carry on in the next Test," he said.
All-rounder Dwayne Bravo and paceman Tino Best are likely to give a chance to press their claims for places in the Test side when West Indies face Victoria next Friday.
"Our bowlers are young and inexperienced and need to stick to the plan.
"Hopefully all these things will change and we can get it right next time.
"The guys just have to keep their heads up because know we can do it," Chanderpaul added.

Australia skipper Ricky Ponting said he had expected the West Indies to pose a bigger challenge for his team.
"It was a good team performance, but I'm not sure the West Indies played as well as they can. We probably expected a little bit more.
"After coming back from England and losing the Ashes, we had to address a lot of areas that were not so good and I think we've done that.
"We've still got a lot to work on and areas to keep improving but to the credit of all the guys and the coaches, we've really knuckled down and worked harder than ever," he commented.
Australia await a fitness report on all-rounder Shane Watson before naming their squad for the second Test.
He injured his shoulder wile fielding and if he is ruled out, Australia may call up spinner Stuart MacGill to join forces with Shane Warne on a wicket which is expected to provide turn.
"I've got no doubt the wicket down there will spin a bit but if Watson doesn't come up, we've got some thinking to do because it'll change the balance of the team quite a bit," Ponting added.
