Indian cricket chiefs have told players and team officials not to make their views public while it probes a bitter row between the coach and the captain.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India issued the warning on Sunday after a rift between former Aussie star Greg Chappell and Sourav Ganguly.
An e-mail criticising Ganguly and sent by Chappell to the BCCI was leaked.
A special committee including three former captains will meet in Mumbai (Bombay) to discuss the row on Tuesday.
The committee, which includes Sunil Gavaskar, Srinivas Venkatraghavan and Ravi Shastri, will also review India's recent poor one-day form.
"You are advised to apply restraint and not make any comments to the media that affects the interest of Indian cricket," the BCCI said in its directive to the players.
The bad vibes came into the open in Zimbabwe when Ganguly told the media he was asked to step aside before the first Test in Bulawayo to make room for an in-form batsman.
Ganguly made a century in that game and Chappell then said he had only wanted to motivate him.
According to media reports, however, Chappell has since told the board in his e-mail that Ganguly, India's captain since 2000 but struggling for form, should be replaced as captain.
The BCCI's statement came after spinner Harbhajan Singh praised his captain and criticised Chappell in an interview with the Press Trust of India on Sunday.
