Believe what all the guidebooks tell you - Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and Newlands is certainly one of the most picturesque grounds staging international cricket.
For the best views of the city, take a cable car up to the top of the world-famous Table Mountain - a paradise for any budding photographer.
For those interested in recent South African history, a trip to nearby Robben Island is a must.
It was there that Nelson Mandela spent many of his years incarcerated within the walls of the island's prison.
So get the boat from the Waterfront but be patient as the trip is very popular.
Although the cafes of Long Street and the bars at Cape Town's smart Victoria and Alfred Waterfront are relaxed and open-minded, remember that this is still South Africa.
Make sure you take local advice on where not to stray after nightfall.
Newlands itself is a 20-minute ride from the city centre.
For the day-night games, get a taxi out to the ground and make sure you've got yourself some transport sorted for the way home after dark.
