Durham suffered their second defeat to Scotland as the Saltires recorded their first victory of the season by six wickets at The Grange.
Colin Smith (79) and Cedric English (53) shared an unbroken stand to lift the hosts from 44-4 at one point past a target of 190 with 5.4 overs left.
After a rain-delayed start, the Dynamos posted 189 from 41 overs, Jon Lewis making 34 and Gary Pratt 48.
Shoaib Akhtar struck twice early but then the fifth wicket pair cut loose.
Durham, who beat Scotland by 25 runs earlier in the season, were the Saltires' first English league scalp in their first match in May 2003.
