Sri Lanka ended early Zimbabwe resistance to complete victory in the second Test by an innings and 254 runs on day four in Bulawayo.
Muralitharan took four wickets including last man Hondo
The hosts, 44-2 overnight, were bowled out for 231 in their second innings despite a stand of 85 between Brendan Taylor (61) and Dion Ebrahim (42).
Spinner Muttiah Muralitharan finished with 4-79, including Taylor and Tatenda Taibu in successive overs before lunch.
Tinashe Panyangara made 40 not out but the hosts succumbed in mid-afternoon.
Taylor's maiden Test half-century took more than three hours, in which he faced 142 balls and hit six fours and a six before giving a looping catch to Mahela Jayawardene at silly mid-off.
Taibu went for a duck, attempting a defensive stroke and popping a catch to Tillakaratne Dilshan at silly mid-on.
And three overs later, and just before the lunch break, Sanath Jayasuriya aimed a delivery at Ebrahim's pads and the batsman flicked a catch to skipper Marvan Atapattu at leg slip.
Chaminda Vaas added the scalps of Alester Maregwede for 28 and Mluleki Nkala in the space of four balls.
Muralitharan had last man Doug Hondo caught slogging for an emphatic end to the controversy-hit series.
