Former Surrey coach Keith Medlycott has been handed a new job in charge of training the world's top umpires.
Medlycott, who led Surrey to three Championship titles in four years, will take up the post of ICC Umpires' High Performance Manager.
He will be responsible for physical and mental conditioning, skill development and match day activities.
ICC boss Malcolm Speed said the post will help "attain ever higher levels of correct decision-making".
He added: "Keith is taking up an important new role that will help in the coaching and development of the game's top officials."
Former spinner Medlycott, and England tourists who never played a Test match, stepped down from the Surrey helm at the end of last season.
He will take up the post on 1 October.
He said: "I am looking forward to working with the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and applying the people-management skills I have developed as a player and coach over the last 20 years in this new environment."
