Surrey kicked off the defence of their Totesport League Division One title with a deflating seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Glamorgan at The Oval.
Matthew Elliott hit an unbeaten 69 with Mike Powell adding 64 as the visitors chased down a victory target of just 147 with half of their 45 overs left.
But the match was effectively over when Surrey, who won the toss, slumped to 36-7 with Andrew Davies returning 4-27.
It was left to tailender Ian Salisbury (59 not out) to spare Surrey's blushes.
