New Zealand 347-4 (50 overs) beat USA 137 by 210 runs

Nathan Astle hammered an unbeaten 145 as New Zealand outclassed the USA by 210 runs at The Oval.

The Kiwis rattled up a Champions Tropy record score of 347-4 as Astle and Craig McMillan (64 not out) added 136 off 48 balls.

The USA made a positive start in reply but four wickets in the space of seven balls reduced them from 52-0 to 55-4.

Clayton Lambert made a dogged 39 for the underdogs before Jacob Oram took the last wicket to finish with 5-36.

43rd over: Zia lofts Oram away for four but the bowler gains his revenge as a skied pull ends up in Cairns' hands.

42nd over: Vettori drifts the ball into a large gap between bat and pad to bowl Reid and claim his third success.

35th over: Lambert has to hurry through for one after a misunderstanding with his partner.

34th over: Zia is content to preserve his wicket as Vettori sends down a maiden.

33rd over: A powerful cover drive from Lambert brings him four off Harris.

32nd over: Vettori almost squeezes one through Zia's defence but the batsman survives thanks to an inside edge.

31st over: Harris claims his first victim as Ali pulls the ball straight to Styris at mid-wicket.

30th over: Cairns prevents four with a diving save on the boundary, but Lambert's sweep shot brings him two.

29th over: Lambert swings Harris away for six to take the total past 100. Ali opens his account with a slog over mid-wicket for four.

27th over: Harris finds some swing and sees two deliveries narrowly miss the edge.

26th over: The batsmen remain watchful with Desai using his favoured push to mid-on to add the only run of Vettori's second over.

25th over: Harris finds the outside edge of Lambert's bat but the ball runs away to third man for four.

24th over: New Zealand turn to spin as Vettori takes over. Desai attempts a risky single but the throw misses the stumps and USA pick up an extra run as the fielder backing up fails to gather cleanly.

23rd over: Harris teases Lambert with his looping medium-pace but the left-hander takes one off the final ball through mid-wicket.

22nd over: Desai picks up two with a well-timed push past the mid-on fielder off Tuffey.

21st over: Veteran Harris comes in for his first over - Lambert forces the ball away square for four.

20th over: Tuffey spoils an otherwise good over with a wide ball which is eased through the covers for four by Desai.

19th over: Desai adds two to the total by pushing a ball from Cairns wide of mid-on.

18th over: Desai tries to work Tuffey away through the leg-side and picks up two through the covers off the leading edge.

17th over: Desai attempts to hook a short ball from Cairns and is lucky as a top edge falls into space behind the keeper.

16th over: Oram strays onto leg stump and Lambert glances delicately for four to fine leg.

15th over: Cairns varies his pace intelligently and Lambert can only add one to the total with an expansive drive to backward point.

14th over: Oram grabs his fourth victim, taking the wicket Alexander, who falls lbw.

13th over: The USA manage to grab to just one run from the over, as their run rate plummets.

12th over: Oram bowls another impressive over, but this time without picking up a wicket.

11th over: Cairns takes the wicket of USA captain Staple, who falls to a plumb lbw having failed to score. After a promising start the USA look in disarray.

10th over: Oram takes three wickets in an over. First, Johnson edges a full-length delivery to keeper McCullum, then Romero flicks on to Styris, followed by star batsman Massiah, who gifts McCullum with another catch.

9th over: Alexander smashes a marvellous flashing four off the bowling of Tuffey.

8th over: Oram bowls his best over, conceding just the one run.

7th over: Both Johnson and Alexander ride their luck with some unorthodox shots from Tuffey's bowling. However, they still makes five more runs.

6th over: A mis-field upsets Oram as the USA grab yet another four. Oram also bowls another wide which leaves captain Fleming distraught.

5th over: Tuffey manages to steady the ship with a maiden over.

4th over: Alexander survives a run-out after making a foolish attempt to go for a single from Oram's ball. He also manages to flash away for a four.

3rd over: Tuffey has a nightmare over. He concedes two boundaries and bowls two wides, as USA claim 13 more runs.

2nd over: Johnson is off the mark, playing a single from Oram's delivery.

1st over: Mark Johnson and Alexander open the innings for the USA. The side's runs come from two wides from Tuffey and one single from Alexander.

50th over: Astle joins in New Zealand's happy hour, scoring three consecutive sixes for himself. The last six overs went for 122 runs.

49th over: McMillan scores two more sixes. It is becoming embarrassing for the USA.

48th over: The 300 comes up for New Zealand as they turn on the style. McMillan records his half-century from just 21 deliveries.

47th over: McMillan hits a three sixes off Johnson's bowling. The bowler removes McMillan's stumps but the the umpire signals no ball.

46th over: Astle smashes two successive sixes off the bowling of Lambert. Lambert's spell ends.

45th over: McMillan hits a huge six down the throat of Staple. Astle gets his 14th one-day century with a single.

44th over: Astle is one run from making the first century of the Champions Trophy.

43rd over: Staple takes the prize wicket of Chris Cairns. Cairns lofted effort finds the hands of substitute fielder Blake. Astle then hits Staple for six.

42nd over: Lambert continues the good work from the USA, conceding just three runs.

41st over: Staple takes the wicket of Styris after the batsmen tries to him for six. Ali takes the catch near the long boundary. Cairns comes in.

40th over: Lambert bowls a good over, conceding just four singles.

39th over: New Zealand bring up 200 on the board with a single.

38th over: Lambert's self-confessed "right-arm dribble" only concedes one boundary - a change from his earlier.

37th over: Staple's gentle off-spinners have no effect on New Zealand's batsmen, as the pair at the crease score another eight runs.

36th over: Astle scores his eighth boundary as New Zealand edge towards 200.

35th over: Astle plays a beautiful drive on his offside which races away for four - 11 runs come from the over.

34th over: Zia concedes five runs from his over, as New Zealand's pair of Astle and Styris continue to pick off runs.

33rd over: Lambert is bowling well, but his lack of pace is not troubling New Zealand.

32nd over: New Zealand still have eight wickets in hand and will be seeking to pose a big score, with the pair at the crease beginning to toy with the American bowlers.

29th over: Astle gets his half-century from a single off the bowling of USA captain Staple.

28th over: The New Zealand pair are choosing at what tempo they want to play at. Styris and Astle have formed a 94-run partnership.

27th over: More singles come at the expense of Lambert, with the run rate now just under 5.00.

26th over: New Zealand are content just to keep the runs ticking along, with four singles from the over.

25th over: New Zealand's pair of Astle and Styris begin to increase the tempo, picking up a couple of boundaries in the over. Lambert concedes 14 runs from his six.

24th over: Zia produces a tidy over up until the final ball which is smashed away for four by Astle.

23rd over: New Zealand try to pick up the run-rate but are stifled by Lambert's bowling.

22nd over: Zia enters the fray with his variety of spin. The bowler is unlucky to concede a boundary after Johnson slips on his way to preventing the four.

21st over: Big appeal from the USA. Astle is lucky not to be given out after Lambert's delivery hits the batsmen's pad on the way to middle and off-stump.

20th over: Reid concedes a boundary to Styris, who trickles the ball down fine leg. Reid completes his 10 overs.

19th over: Former West Indies Test batsmen Clayton Lambert, aged 42, comes into the attack. Astle smashes a boundary from the third delivery.

18th over: Astle is finding it hard to come to terms with Reid's variety of spin.

17th over: Romero concedes a boundary each to Astle and Styris after more loose deliveries. New Zealand's run rate increases to over 4.00.

16th over: Reid settles the ship once again, as the dark clouds loom once again over The Oval.

15th over: Romero's slightly loose bowling proves expensive with eight runs coming from the over.

14th over: New Zealand's new pair play defensively after the shock of the last over.

13th over: Romero comes into the attack and grabs a wicket in his first over, as Marshall smashes his off-stump delivery straight into the hands of Desai. Styris joins Astle at the crease.

12th over: New Zealand appear content at the moment to grind out the runs. Another good over from Reid who is not giving the batsmen much width.

11th over: USA's fielders play their part in the good start, as Ali prevents a boundary with a diving stop.

10th over: Reid concedes just one run as a result of very disciplined bowling.

9th over: The New Zealand pair of Astle and Marshall adopt a cautious approach, much to the delight of bowler Johnson who is growing in confidence.

8th over: Just two runs come from the spin of Reid.

7th over: Astle is joined at the crease by Marshall. Johnson bowls a maiden over.

6th over: Fleming grabs a couple of boundaries at the expense of Reid. However, Fleming's luck runs out when he hits at catch to extra-cover Romero.

5th over: Fleming and Astle continue to pick off runs, but are playing a cautious game against the tournament outsiders.

4th over: Reid repeats Johnson's performance in the previous over, with a confident display of bowling.

3rd over: Johnson concedes four runs after bowling down Astle's off-side, although the American is not giving the batsmen much room.

2nd over: The Black Caps pair of Astle and Fleming pick off runs from the spin of Reid, with Fleming scoring a boundary.

1st over: New Zealand captain Fleming manages to score just one run from the medium-fast bowling of Johnson.
