Rain forces Oval draw
Tour match, The Oval: Surrey 173 & 39-0 drew with India A 462-4 dec

India A saw rain ruin a second match on their tour of England after no play was possible on the third and final day at The Oval.

After bowling a second-string Surrey line-up out for 173 and then declaring on 464-4, the tourists would have been hopeful of a result.

But bad weather ruined the morning session and umpires Jeff Evans and Steven Garratt decided over lunch to call proceedings to a halt with the hosts 39-0 in their second innings.

There was plenty to cheer on day two when Sridharan Sriram, Gautam Gambhir and 17-year-old Ambati Rayudu all scored centuries for the tourists.

India's reserve team now move to Arundel, where they take on South Africa in a three-day match from Saturday.

Surrey: S A Newman (Capt), J N Batty (Wkt), N Shahid, R Clarke, A D Brown, J G E Benning, B J M Scott, T J Murtagh, N C Saker, M J Todd, N Dernbach.

India A: S S Das (Capt), W Jaffer, S Sriram, A T Rayudu, R Vijay Bharadwaj, G Gambhir, P A Patel (Wkt), A Mishra, L Balaji, A M Salvi, A Bhandari.
