Sehwag fights fire with fire
County Championship D1, Southgate, day two (close): Leicestershire 221-3 v Middlesex 620-7 dec

Three late wickets for Chad Keegan swung the balance back to Middlesex after some blazing Leicestershire batting at Southgate.

Virender Sehwag led the way as the Foxes put on 221 in 45 overs in reply to their hosts' mammoth 620-7 declared.

The Indian star took just 111 balls over his 130 - his second Championship ton - with 20 fours and four sixes, and Keegan took much of the punishment, conceding 68 from 13 overs.

But the South African-born pace man stuck back to dismiss Sehwag, opening partner Jonny Maunders for 55 and Darren Maddy before the close.

That left the visitors needing 399 more to make Middlesx bat again.

Ed Joyce and David Nash joined skipper Andrew Strauss as centurions in the home side's innings, Joyce just passing three figures in 217 balls before he was bowled by Jeremy Snape.

Nash was more brisk, taking 132 to pass 100 against a tiring attack and sharing a seventh-wicket stand of 91 with Paul Weekes, who made 75 himself.
