County Championship D2, Derby, day one (close): Derbyshire 89 v Gloucestershire 214-6
Jonathan Lewis took his championship wicket-tally to 40 as Gloucestershire took full control on day one at Derby.
Batting first, the hapless hosts were bowled out in 36 overs with Lewis returning 6-48 and Aussie all-rounder Ian Harvey 3-18.
Only four Derbyshire batsmen made double-figure scores and Michael Di Venuto's 17 sadly was the pick of the bunch.
Kiwi batsman Craig Spearman ensured the visitors were not long in establishing a first-innings lead, hitting a fine 85.
But Derbyshire fought back in the evening session to minimise the damage.
Skipper Dominic Cork and Mohammad Ali took two wickets each as Gloucestershire held a 125-run lead with four wickets in hand.
