County Championship D1, Leicester, day two
Warwickshire 253; Leicestershire 215-3 (at close)
Leicestershire made up for lost time, thanks to some exhilarating batting by John Maunders and Darren Maddy.
They shared a second wicket stand of 156 to put the home side within striking distance of Warwickshire's first day total.
Rain in the East Midlands prevented any play until 4.20pm and the two batsmen were in no mood to hang about as they strode out with their side on 72-1.
Spinner Neil Smith conceded 36 from four overs, and Maunders brought up the 100 partnership by hooking Waqar Younis over long leg for six.
Pace bowler Melvyn Betts also suffered before taking his revenge with the total on 198 by dismissing Maunders for 64.
Maddy collected 12 boundaries in reaching 88 not out, but lost another partner immediately before the close as Australian Brad Hodge was lbw to Ian Bell for seven.
