County Championship D2, Derby, day one
Yorkshire 314-7 v Derbyshire
On a day of low scores around the country, Craig White's unbeaten century and Yorkshire's superb recovery from 78-4 will have proved disheartening for the home side.
Graem Welch was in superb form for Derbyshire, taking 5-74, but the back-up bowling was not up to scratch.
White came in with his team in a desperate situation but he was still there at the end of the day having faced 173 balls and hitting 16 fours in his innings.
He put on 195 for the fifth wicket with the consistent Michael Lumb, who was dismissed seven runs short of what would have been a fine century of his own.
When Lumb was finally out, inevitably to Welch, the same bowlers grabbed two more wickets but it was still very much honours to Yorkshire after day one.
