Tour match, Racecourse Ground, Durham. India A 224-2 beat British Universities 221-9 by eight wickets
India's second-string side enjoyed a winning start to their tour of England with their victory over the undergraduates achieved with seven-and-a-half overs unused.
Gautam Gambhir hit 128 at a rate of better than a run a ball, while Amrit Mishra took 4-41 after the students had optd to bat first.
For the students, Northamptonshire's rising star Rob White was the only batsman to get past 50 but a reasonable-looking side collapsed from the strong position of 200-5 with two run outs spoiling matters.
India A will move across the city to the Riverside ground for a match against the county side on Friday.
