National League D1, Worcester: Worcestershire 193-7 (45 overs) beat Leicestershire 198-8 (42.1 overs) by two wickets
Points: Leicestershire 4, Worcestershire 0
Leicestershire recorded a much-needed second win of the season to deny Worcestershire by two wickets at New Road.
Chasing a moderate total, the visitors slumped to 19-3 early on before half-centuries to opener Phil DeFreitas and Darren Maddy got the run-chase back on track.
The pair added 123 runs for the fourth wicket before former England all-rounder DeFreitas was trapped lbw by Matt Mason for 68.
Maddy fell for 56 just three runs later - one of four wickets for David Leatherdale - but Trevor Ward (31 not out) kept a cool head and brought up victory in style, hitting a six on the first ball of the 43rd over.
Earlier, opener Simon Peters fared well with a knock of 50 but received little support from a listless Worcestershire batting order.
Aussie off-spinner Brad Hodge kept things tight for the Foxes, returning figures of 3-34.
