FACTFILE
Tatenda Taibu
DOB: 14.5.1983
Team: Mashonaland
Test debut: v West Indies, Bulawayo 2001
ODI debut: v West Indies, Harare 2001

Taibu's elevation to the vice-captaincy at the age of 19 is clear evidence that he is seen as a future star of Zimbabwe cricket.

First called into the national squad while still at school, he served as Andy Flower's deputy behind the stumps before finally making his Test debut two years ago.

He has a first-class century behind him and his batting is improving rapidly at international level. Taibu looks certain to be a fixture in the side for many years to come.

Captained the Zimbabwe team at last year's Under-19 World Cup, when they won the Plate final.
