County Championship D1, Liverpool, day three (close): Leicestershire 314 & 130-5 (following-on); Lancashire 503-6 dec.
If there are no weather interruptions on Saturday, Lancashire will expect to record an important victory after making Leicestershire's batsmen suffer all day.
Gary Keedy finished with three wickets in the first innings and one in the second as the visitors were teetering five wickets from defeat at stumps.
And they still need 59 more runs to make the home side bat again after Carl Hooper grabbed 3-30 late in the day.
There was no play until the afternoon, as Leicestershire eventually resumed on their overnight 117-4.
Things began well through Darren Maddy (85) and Darren Stevens (65). But Keedy and Glenn Chapple (3-66) conspired to reduce the visitors from 238-4 to 314 all out.
In the follow-on, John Maunders and Paul Nixon both got into the 30s before losing their wickets, while the run out of Virender Sehwag was a calamity the visitors could ill afford.
