Chilton provides Lancs cheer
County Championship D1, Liverpool, day one (close): Lancashire 210-1 v Leicestershire

Mark Chilton was eyeing his seventh first-class century when rain brought an early end to the first day's play at Aigburth.

Play was stopped just before tea, with Lancashire in full control on 210-1 from the 60.4 overs that were bowled.

Chilton was unbeaten on 87, a knock whick included 18 fours, while Mal Loye was also in good touch during his 53 not out.

Leicestershire, who lost the toss, had only one moment of joy when David Masters had Iain Sutcliffe caught for 55.

Skipper Phil DeFreitas ended up using eight bowlers in an effort to turn the tide.
