Harmison shines in Academy triumph

Harmison has put injury problems behind him
Durham paceman Steve Harmison returned match figures of seven for 120 as England's Academy side thrashed their Australian counterparts by an innings and 31 runs.

They won with a day to spare in Adelaide after dismissing the home side for 184 in their second innings.

It rounded off an excellent all-round effort by the team, who are coached by former Australian wicket-keeper Rod Marsh.

They totalled 601 for eight declared with three batsmen making centuries - Andrew Strauss, Robert Key and Ian Bell.

The Aussies began day three on 217 for four in their first innings, but were all out for 386 with Harmison taking four for 78 and Yorkshire fast bowler Steve Kirby claiming four for 100.

England enforced the follow-on and Harmison was soon among the wickets again.

He picked up three for 42, with Bell, Chris Tremlett and Graeme Swann each taking two wickets to clinch the victory, their third in three games.

The squad will spend the Christmas and New Year poeriod in England, before returning to Australia next month.

Their next game is a four-day fixture against the Victoria Cricket Association second XI, starting on 21 January.
