Pratt spearheads fight back

Click here for scorecard Gary Pratt led the attack on West Indies' first innings total of 400 with a fine century as England Under 19s reached 313 for three on the second day of the second Test at Trent Bridge. The Durham left-hander scored his 100 in 197 minutes off 144 balls, hitting 17 fours. Devon Smith's 169 had placed the tourists firmly in the ascendancy on the opening day with the help of Vishal Arjune's 79. Narsingh Deonarine put on another 53 before he was bowled by Kyle Hogg and the Lancashire 18-year-old snaffled two more wickets in the morning session to take his tally to five for the innings before West Indies captain Brenton Parchment declared on 416 for nine. England managed 61 in their 19 overs before lunch, but lost their captain, Joe Sayers for 45 when he was caught by Camilus Alexander off Jermaine Lawson's bowling. That brought Kadeer Ali in to join Pratt and the pair put on 189 runs before Carlton Baugh caught Pratt off the bowling of Lawson. Hogg could not maintain the momentum, adding only eight runs before becoming Lawson's third scalp. With 89 overs completed by stumps, England Under 19s trail the tourists by 103 runs with seven wickets remaining in the first innings.
