Stephen Fleming savoured "the most complete performance" since he becamse New Zealand captain following their crushing victory over Pakistan in the third Test at Hamilton.
Click here for scorecard All-rounder Craig McMillan set a new Test record by taking 26 off a single over by Younis Khan as they made 407 for four declared and then bowled out the tourists for 118 to win by an innings and 185 runs. "That's as close to the perfect Test as you can play. Bar a couple of catches on the first day, we didn't really look back. "I'm absolutely delighted to finish the season with this win," said Fleming. McMillan hit five fours and a six in his record-breaking over as he went from 50 to 98 in just 17 balls, but missed out on a century when he was caught off fast bowler Fazl e-Akbar. "After I hit three boundaries, I thought it would be cool to hit six boundaries in one over. Reserves pressed into service "I've bowled a few times and been hit for three or four in one over and I know it's not a great feeling," said McMillan. Paceman Daryl Tuffey was named Man of the Match, however, for taking seven wickets in the game on his home ground.
Fleming paid tribute to Tuffey, Chris Martin and James Franklin, who led New Zealand's attack because Chris Cairns, Dion Nash, Shayne O'Connor, Scott Styris and Geoff Allott are all injured. "If players are unavailable, you make do with what you've got. To that end, the response from our bowlers has been superb because they know they've been second, sometimes third choices. "Daryl Tuffey and Chris Martin have developed into front-line new ball bowlers and James Franklin is a youngster come from nowehere, who's done extremely well," he said. Acting Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq admitted that his team had been guilty of playing some rash shots. He also cited the absence of youthful paceman Mohammad Sami as a factor in the outcome. "He played so well in Auckland on his debut, and bowled well in Christchurch with no luck. Psychologically he would have been up on the New Zealanders and we missed him."
