Newly-crowned British flyweight champion Chris Edwards is hopeful of setting up a rematch against Shinny Bayaar, the last fighter to defeat him.

Edwards, 35, lost the British title to Bayaar by a split decision in Bolton in October 2009, but regained it against Paul Edwards in Liverpool on Saturday.

"Shinny is the mandatory challenger and, more than likely, it will be him next," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I would like it to be Shinny because I thought I did enough to win."

Edwards added: "I would like to fight him again and get some revenge."

He is now a three-time British champion at two different weights, as well as being the current holder of the Commonwealth flyweight title.

Edwards is now eyeing the possibility of becoming European champion.

"I'm ranked second or third in Europe now and the European title is vacant," he said.

"That could come off but I'm not too bothered. My main goal is to win the British title again so I can get to keep it for the rest of my life.

"If the European [title shot] comes after , then I'll take that."
