Tony Bellew aiming to beat Ovill McKenzie in style

Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Tony Bellew has vowed to "shock" Ovill McKenzie when the pair meet in a rematch in Liverpool on 16 July.

The first fight saw Bellew win via an eighth round stoppage but McKenzie had knocked Bellew to the canvas in both the first and second rounds.

Bellew told BBC Radio Merseyside: "He's going to get an awful shock this time.

"I'm not Superman, I just believe I'm such a better boxer than him and I definitely punch harder."

When the pair meet for a second time at the ECHO Arena, the vacant British title will also be on the line.

Bellew is determined to become the latest Merseyside boxer to lift a Lonsdale belt and he has railed against claims his original meeting with McKenzie was ended prematurely.

"It will just be a thorough lesson for Ovill McKenzie and I'm looking forward to it as I'm sick of hearing (about) what he's going to do to me," said Bellew.

"If he'd done what I did when I went down, the fight wouldn't have got stopped.

"His was a heavy knockdown and so was my second one but I got straight up and I took the fight to him. He gets up, and he didn't throw punches."

Bellew added: "If he doesn't throw punches, the referee has nothing else to do but stop the fight."
