Magee claimed the vacant British super-middleweight title on Saturday
Brian Magee unleashed a series of body shots to stop Stevie McGuire and win the vacant British super-middleweight title on Saturday.
McGuire was twice doubled up in the sixth and he was on his knees again in round seven, though Magee was deducted a point for a low blow.
But McGuire was again in big trouble and he was stopped in round eight.
"I worked a lot in the gym on the body shots. This is just a fantastic way to end the year," said Magee.
Also on the Brentwood bill, unbeaten Darren Barker successfully defended his Commonwealth middleweight title as Northern Irishman Jason McKay retired after six rounds of their bout.
Barker, who was claiming his 19th straight win, had McKay in trouble in the opening round and it set the tone for the contest.
McKay recovered well in the second round but the Barnet man's power enabled him to dominate of the bout thereafter.
After shipping more punishment in round six, McKay stayed on his stool, with his handlers also saying that he had suffered a hand injury.
