Sunderland's Olympic bronze medal-winning boxer Tony Jeffries believes he is ready to turn professional and is confident his style will suit the game.
Light-heavyweight Jeffries, 23, is tipped to quit the amateur ranks and feels the time is right to turn pro.
"The sky's my limit, I can go all the way and I think my style suits the professionals," he told BBC Look North.
"I'm quite heavy handed and I can take a shot, I'm looking forward to it. Now I think it's the right time."
Jeffries has been hot property since returning from Beijing, and along with fellow Olympic medallist James DeGale, has been under immense pressure from pundits and promoters to join the pro circuit.
And Jeffries believes he has given the prospect of professional boxing enough consideration to have made the right decision.
I got a massive cheer that sent shivers down my spine, and I was telling people it was better than getting on the podium at the Olympics
Tony Jeffries on switching on the Sunderland Christmas lights
"It's been nearly three months and it's been on the back of my mind all that time," he said.
"Now I've seen everyone, I think it's the right time."
Sunderland-born, Jeffries became the first boxer ever to bring an Olympic medal back to the city earlier this year - an honour which saw him handed the responsibility of switching on the city's Christmas lights.
And he admitted seeing and experiencing the reception from the people of Sunderland was a huge buzz.
"I got a massive cheer that sent shivers down my spine, and I was telling people it was better than getting on the podium at the Olympics," he said.
"I'm really proud to be from the North East and proud to be from Sunderland.
"Hopefully if I do turn professional I'll be boxing up in Sunderland.
"I want to bring boxing back to the North East, the TV cameras up to the North East and put the region on the map."
