Limond makes winning ring return

Willie Limond comfortably beat Matt Scriven on points in an eight-round contest in Paisley.

The former Commonwealth lightweight champion, in his first fight for six months, floored Scriven in round one, although his opponent said he slipped.

Nottingham's Scriven won just one round as Limond warmed up for his IBO inter-continental title defence which he must stage before the end of the year.

Meanwhile Kenny Anderson beat Jevgenjis Andrejevs on points in six rounds.

The Edinburgh fighter needed two stitches in his eyelid after being elbowed by the Latvian, who also slapped Anderson at the end of the fourth round and was then deducted a point for an illegal punch in the sixth.

Limond was fighting less than a week after his planned light-welterweight fight with Dimitriy Salita in New York was called off.

After his 30th professional win, he said: "The only thing was the fight got changed to two-minute rounds on Friday. And my opponent got changed four or five times.

"I was supposed to be fighting this guy, then that guy so my head's been all over the place this week.

"It wasn't an explosive performance but I never put a foot wrong. I didn't feel like I lost a round, but there you go."
