Liverpool super-bantamweight Mark Moran is "confident" of beating Leeds's Danny Wallace to lift the vacant English title in Manchester on Saturday night.
The two men had been in discussions to fight twice previously, in non-title affairs, without reaching an agreement.
Moran, 26, told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It does give you confidence when you know he's pulled out twice before.
"He's watched me and heard of me so I'm confident I can go in there on Saturday and win the English title."
The bout will take place on the undercard of Ricky Hatton's fight against Juan Lazcano.
Moran, a Commonwealth bronze medallist at bantamweight in 2002, has fought on a Hatton show before and says he is looking forward to being involved in such a huge event.
"When you're fighting in a stadium like Manchester City's ground it can only spur you on," he said.
"I've fought on a Hatton bill before at the MEN Arena. The atmosphere is just magnificent and this time it's going to be even bigger.
"I don't think there's a better place to win your first title."
