Isaac Ward claimed the vacant Commonwealth super bantamweight title with a second-round stoppage of Francis Miyeyusho in Yarm on Sunday.
The 29-year-old from Darlington sent his Tanzanian opponent to his knees with a big right to the body where he remained for the full count.
It gave Ward the first title of his 18-fight career.
He was badly beaten in a British title challenge against Londoner Martin Power in May last year.
