Harrison makes date with Sprott
Audley Harrison
Harrison has set his sights on winning a world title in 2007
Audley Harrison will take on fellow British heavyweight Michael Sprott at Wembley Arena on 17 February as he tries to get his career back on track.

Just one month after impressively beating Danny Williams, the 35-year-old has lined up Sprott for the unheralded European Union heavyweight title.

"Sprott is just an obstacle in my way to challenging for a world title," Harrison said on his website.

"But I am not taking this fight lightly at all. I am focused and determined."

Sprott, four inches shorter at 6ft 1in, is confident of his chances despite losing three of his last five bouts.

"I have the punching power to cause some damage," said the 31-year-old.

"Audley is tall and has good hand speed for a big man but it doesn't faze me.

"I've met bigger fighters, like Timo Hoffman, the German who was 6ft 8ins tall and 19st. I was only 16st 4lbs but I beat him."

Harrison is eyeing possible showdowns with British champion Scott Gammer or Commonwealth holder Matt Skelton.

"It is common knowledge that I wanted Gammer next but he did not accept the challenge and so my opponent is Sprott," Harrison said.

Big things were predicted for Harrison after he won Olympic gold in 2000 but a disappointing professional career saw him on the verge of retirement five years later.

However, Harrison's impressive destruction of Williams last December saw him join promoter Frank Warren's stable and reignited his desire to win a world title.

The Londoner is now training in Las Vegas ahead of the Sprott fight.
