British Boxing Board of Control director Nicky Piper hopes his MBE honour for services to sport will help set up a great 2006 for Welsh boxing.
Piper has been awarded an MBE
"I hope it sets an example, but Welsh boxing is doing very well at the moment and 2006 should be special," he said.
"Joe Calzaghe can cement his place at the top by beating Jeff Lacy, I hope Enzo Maccarinelli beats Johnny Nelson and Mo Nasir gets Commonwealth gold.
"As for me, I'll have a big party to celebrate the MBE appointment."
Piper, from Wenvoe in the Vale of Glamorgan, was Commonwealth light heavyweight champion before retiring and working for the Welsh Amateur Boxing Council.
He was then chairman of the Professional Boxing Association and has served the British Boxing Board of Control for eight years.
"I think the award is more for my services in administration than my feats inside the ring," Piper joked, speaking to BBC Sport Wales.
