Klitschko surgery hailed success
Vitali Klitschko
Klitschko beat Britain's Danny Williams last December
WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has had successful back surgery and can resume training within four weeks, according to an aide.

The Ukrainian postponed his title defence against American Hasim Rahman on 23 July, but the pair could now go toe-to-toe in September.

"The surgery went very, very well. It lasted 35 minutes," said Bernd Boente.

"He can begin light training in three to four weeks. He will certainly be able to box again in September."

Klitschko had originally been set to fight former champion Rahman in April, but pulled out because of a thigh injury.

The 33-year-old retained his crown in December by stopping Britain's Danny Williams in the eighth round in Las Vegas.
