Former WBO middleweight champion Felix
Sturm has filed a protest with the Nevada Athletic Commission over his loss to Oscar De la Hoya.
De la Hoya won a 115-113 decision in last week's fight to secure a September showdown with Bernard Hopkins.
"Perhaps the judges in Las Vegas were distracted by the overwhelming presence of the upcoming big fight," said Sturm
promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl.
Hopkins had a points win over Robert Allen on the same bill.
"Scoring is subjective, so unless someone can prove a mathematical mistake or collusion, there is no basis for a protest," said Marc Ratner, the commission's executive director.
