De la Hoya remains one of the biggest drawcards in boxing
|
Oscar de la Hoya is set to fight undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins on 18 September.
De la Hoya faces Germany's WBO middleweight champion Felix Sturm on 5 June, with Hopkins due to fight Robert Allen on the same card.
Wins for both men should secure the biggest non-heavyweight fight in recent years.
De la Hoya stepped up a weight after suffering his second loss to fellow American Shane Mosley last September.
And De la Hoya, 31, hopes to get back to winning ways against Sturm, who is unbeaten in 20 professional contests.
Sturm, meanwhile, is relishing his challenge.
"De la Hoya's my idol," said the 25-year-old: "But I won't freeze up in awe against him."
De la Hoya is one of only three boxers in the history of the sport to win world titles at five different weights.
