Sinclair set for world title bid
Neil Sinclair takes custody of Lonsdale belt
Neil Sinclair wants another crack at WBU world title
Belfast's Neil Sinclair looks set to get his reward for retaining his British welterwight crown on Saturday with a crack at the vacant WBU title in Belfast on 3 May.

The 28-year-old Belfast fighter will return to the Odyssey Arnea where he made the Lonsdale belt his own property after defeating Welshman Bradley Pryce.

Promoter Frank Warren has already received the thumbs up from WBU president Jon Robinson to stage a multi-title package at the 3,500-capacity arena.

Warren's first job is to negotiate a date with the broadcasters so that Sinclair can have his second attempt at a world title, but May looks a likely spot on the calendar.

I've proved myself at British level so the time is right to go for the world title

WBU president Jon Robinson has been in touch with Warren. Robinson was at the Odyssey on Saturday night to see Sinclair win with an eighth-round stoppage.

As yet there are no suggestions who will be Sinclair's opponent, but he promises to be ready whenever the time arrives.

"I'm not really bothered who I fight for the world title, I just hope it is in Belfast,'' said Sinclair.

"I've proved myself at British level and I've got the Lonsdale belt for life so the time is right to go for the world title.

"The reception I got was tremendous.

"Bradley gave me a tough fight which I expected but my power was the difference in the end.

"I feel now that I'm ready for the world scene.

"Two years ago when I thought the first time for the world title, I wasn't ready.

Neil is becoming a real star and the fans know that they are guaranteed value for money

John Breen

''But now I feel a more all-round fighter.

"I would be happy to vacate the British title now and maybe Bradley will get a shot at the vacant title. He deserves it."

Sinclair's manger John Breen is confident that his charge will fight in Belfast for the WBU title.

"The atmosphere was super but it's going to get even better,'' said Breen.

''Neil is becoming a real star and the fans know that they are guaranteed value for money every time he fights.

"Belfast boxing is finally buzzing again.''
