Harrison hits out at Beeb
Audley Harrison v Shawn Robinson
Robinson was no match for Harrison in Atlantic City
Audley Harrison has furiously hit back at the BBC after the corporation criticised him in a national newspaper.

Mike Lewis, BBC's Head of Boxing strategy, criticised Harrison's attitude towards public relations during his recent debut in America in an article in Tuesday's Daily Express.

But Harrison, who is in Jamaica for the funeral of his uncle, has responded by describing the comments about him as "insensitive".

For the BBC to come out and criticise me when I was going through a lot of different things emotionally is wrong

"I am being heavily criticised by the BBC over my public relations and for an event with the BBC and members of the press that I missed last week," Harrison told The Daily Telegraph.

"I was very disappointed to read it. Normally in the week of a fight, the most important thing is the boxing, but on top of that I was holding my grief quite well having lost my uncle suddenly.

"I almost didn't go over for the fight when he died. The insensitivity of the BBC over this is unbelievable."

Lewis told BBC Sport Online that he stood by the comments he made in the Daily Express.

"I stand by my view that since he turned pro Audley hasn't been as co-operative to the media as he ought to be.

"But he's a really intelligent guy who can easily sort this out and I look forward to discussing it all with him when he gets to the UK. It is not a major problem."

Harrison, who is unbeaten after eight fights, also revealed that he had received an offer from a top American promoter to continue his career on the other side of the Atlantic.
