Woods to fight Jones
Roy Jones Jr
Jones has never fought outside the US
Sheffield light-heavyweight Clinton Woods could have home advantage when he faces American star Roy Jones Jr.

The pair have agreed to fight on 7 September, and though the venue has not been decided it looks likely it will be somewhere in Britain.

The British fighter is the WBC's mandatory challenger to Jones, who also holds the WBA and IBF titles.

Woods' manager Dennis Hobson, who received a contract from Jones' representatives on Monday night, said: "This news is the culmination of lots of hard work over the last year or so.

"I'm very pleased for Clinton as he will finally get the chance to show what he can do. Let's give Clinton his due, he is the number one-ranked mandatory challenger."

Richard Poxon of Dennis Hobson Promotions said: "We must remember that Jones has never fought outside of the States before and the likelihood is that he won't again.

"Jones is the best fighter of his era, and like Sugar Ray Robinson and (Muhammad) Ali before him, he's coming to fight in the home of boxing."
