Klitschko eyes Oquendo clash
Wladimir Klitschko is looking to fight in February
Fres Oquendo's prize for stopping David Izon on Saturday could be a match-up with
Wladimir Klitschko in February.
Oquendo stepped in for the clash with Izon after Klitschko pulled out because of a shoulder injury. The Puerto Rican extended his record to 22-0 with 13 knockouts by stopping Izon in the second round. And Klitschko is ready to by-pass Izon to get to the man who beat him, possibly early next year in New York. "We've talked about Oquendo several times, now the chances are good," said Klitschko's business manager, Peter Hanraths. "Wladimir is ready to face any heavyweight in the United States to get his name out - that would be possible with this title fight." Oquendo would probably prefer to fight American Chris Byrd for the IBF title, but that would depend on Lennox Lewis giving up the belt as he has suggested. |
