Lewis v Rahman round-by-round
Lewis v Rahman - round by round
All the action as it happened from Carnival City, South Africa, where Hasim Rahman beats Lennox Lewis in one of world heavyweight boxing's biggest upsets.

04:17 BST A determined-looking Rahman emerges, wearing a black dressing gown and headband. He is greeted by muted applause by the 6,000-strong crowd.

04:20 Traditional African dancers herald the entrance of Lewis, who strolls in relaxed fashion to the ring to the sounds of Bob Marley.

Round one
Lewis, towering over the challenger, takes the initiative right at the start of the fight - but Rahman signals his intent by beating the Lewis defence with an impressive right-hand jab.

Round two
The tempo of the fight picks up and Lewis begins to impose himself with a left uppercut-right overhand combination.

More powerful overhands leave Rahman on the back foot at the end of the round, but the American is coping well with the blows Lewis is landing. And the Briton seems to be struggling with the altitude, breathing heavily through his mouth.

Round three
Swelling appears around Rahman's left eye as Lewis unleashes another overhand. But the champion is still breathing heavily - and Rahman hits back with a flurry towards the end of the round.

Round four
Lewis works on Rahman's bruised eye with a fierce jab, then follows up with an uppercut. But Rahman immediately battles back and catches Lewis with a glancing blow with a huge right-hand. An encouraging round for the challenger, who shows he can take the fight to Lewis.

Round five
Lewis pins Rahman in his own corner, but fails to take advantage of the situation. And just as Lewis looks to dominate the bout with some body blows, the challenger creates a huge upset.

As if from nowhere, Rahman launches a massive right-hand that rocks Lewis' head right back and sends him crashing to the floor. The champion is clearly dazed and the referee steps in to end the fight.

Two minutes and 32 seconds into the fifth round, the 20-1 outsider has forced his way into the boxing consciousness in sensational fashion.

Mayhem breaks out in the ring as the magnitude of the upset begins to sink in.

"I can't believe that," a surprisingly relaxed Lewis says immediately after the knockout. "He caught me with a good shot. But I felt fine afterwards. The rematch will be as soon as possible.

"I felt fine in there. This is what happens in heavyweight boxing - you get hit with a good shot, you go down. If you don't beat the count, you're out."
