Hopkins waits for next 'victim'

'The Executioner' has his list of victims ready - now all Bernard Hopkins can do is wait to see if they show up.

The 36-year-old American reached the finals of the world middleweight unification series by taking a unanimous decision from compatriot Keith Holmes.

Hopkins booked an autumn unification fight against the winner of the fight between Puerto Rico's unbeaten Felix Trinidad and William Joppy.

But Hopkins also wants a shot at Roy Jones, the undisputed world light heavyweight champion.

Keeping up with Jones

"From the day I turned professional, I always wanted to be the world undisputed middleweight champion," Hopkins said.

"I'm going to win this tournament whether it's Joppy or Trinidad.

"Then I'm going to beat Roy Jones and then I'm going to (retire) a happy millionaire."

The September showdown will produce the middleweight division's first undisputed champion since 1987, when 'Marvelous' Marvin Hagler laid claim to the honour.

Legacy

It is no secret that Hopkins would prefer to fight Trinidad, who owns the WBA and IBF super welterweight crowns. 'Tito' Trinidad, 39-0 with 32 knockouts, offers a much bigger payday than Joppy.

"I'll make one million more if Trinidad wins," Hopkins said.

"Trinidad loses, I lose a million. It's as simple as that. I care about a legacy when it's all over. I want to be more than a champion.

"Doing this will put me in a stage where no one will deny me Hall of Fame status. I'll be talked about forever," he added.
