There is more to come - Scott Overall

London athlete Scott Overall says "there is more to come" following his successful marathon debut in Berlin.

The 28-year-old finished fifth, in a time of two hours 10 minutes and 55 seconds, which meets the A standard for next year's Olympic Games.

"The last 13 miles I was running completely on my own and I definitely think there is more to come," he told BBC London 94.9.

"In London I'll have the home crowd behind me so it will be amazing."

Overall, who comes from a 5,000m background, had hoped to be competing on the track at London 2012 but decided to switch to the marathon to give himself a better chance of getting onto the team.

"My dream was to go to the Olympics running on the track but things just weren't clicking and I'd always done well on the roads," he said.

"I took that into consideration and decided to run the marathon."

After meeting the A standard for London 2012, UK Athletics will now decide whether the Hounslow athlete will be in the team for next summer.

Overall, who works part time in a sports shop in London, divides his time between the UK and the United States, where he went to college.

His USA-based coach Robert Chapman believes Overall deserves the chance to compete at London 2012.

"He has the time and he has shown he can be competitive in an international field," Chapman said.

"To run that in a debut, with the second half all by yourself, the upside potential is that he could go 2:09 or 2:08 in the future.

"I hope they would give him this opportunity."
