Irish 800 metres runners Thomas Chamney and Dave Campbell both went under 1 minute and 46 seconds for the first time at Friday's Bislett Games in Oslo.

Chamney took third in 1:45.41 - 1.05 secs inside his previous best - but his new PB was an agonising .01 outside the World Championship A standard.

Campbell clocked 1:45.59 to take fifth and his new PB was .46 inside his previous fastest time.

Another Irishman Alistair Cragg was seventh in the 1500m in 3:38.44.

2004 Olympic champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy won the 800m in 1:44.42 which Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Al-Salhi (1:44.96) also finished ahead of Chamney.

Those behind the Irish pair included Algeria's Nadjim Manseur who was an Olympic finalist in Beijing.

Kenyan Collins Cheboi won the 1500m in 3:36.24.

Meanwhile, Anna Boyle's struggles continued as she could only finish seventh in a time of 11.90 at the Cork City Sports on Saturday.

The race was won by Bulgarian Ivet Lalova in 11.24 ahead of Ailis McSweeney (11.52) and Niamh Whelan (11.54).

Other Irish competitors Clare Brady (11.57) and Kelly Proper (11.65) also finished ahead of Boyle in a race where the wind speed exceeded the legal limit.

Paul Hession won the men's 200m in a slick 20.45 but had to settle for second in the men's 100 in 10.20 behind Brendan Christian of Antigua.

Christian clocked 10.12 but the wind reading of 3.1 was again above the legal limit.

Italian Judit Varga won the women's 1500m in 4:14.03 where Roseanne Galligan (4:17.69) took third and Roisin McGettigan (4:21.57) had to settle for sixth.

Deirdre Ryan won the women's high jump with a leap of 1.89m while Kelly Proper leaped 6.44m in the long jump.
