Idowu continues impressive return

Idowu will be hoping to keep up his good form in Berlin in the summer

Olympic triple jump silver medallist Phillips Idowu continued his injury comeback with victory at the Memorial Primo Nebiolo meeting in Turin.

Three days after winning in Crete on his first appearance for nine months, Idowu jumped 17.60m to win ahead of Fabrizio Schembri and Julien Kapek.

Londoner Idowu, 30, has been sidelined by a knee problem since missing out on Olympic gold last summer by just 5cm.

Tim Benjamin, who has been out for nearly a year, romped home in the 400m.

Benjamin, who missed the 2008 Olympics due to a sinus problem and has struggled long-term foot and groin injuries, came home in a time of 45.80 seconds, the second-fastest time by a Briton this year, behind American-born Michael Bingham.

Elsewhere, European indoor champion Mo Farah had to settle for second place behind Vincent Chepkok in the 3000m.

Chepkok took nearly four seconds off his personal best with a winning time of seven minutes 37.40sec, nearly two seconds faster than Farah.

World indoor long jump silver medallist Chris Tomlinson also produced a solid performance as he won with a leap of 8.04m, and Andy Turner took third in the 110m hurdles behind American Dexter Faulk and Shamar Sands of the Bahamas.
