Chambers ran a European-best 10.06 seconds over 100m in Greece

Dwain Chambers could race at the Paris Golden League meet next month after event organiser Laurent Boquillet admitted he was considering a U-turn. Chambers is banned from meetings under the UK Athletics banner and by the 50-plus members of the Euro Meetings group after testing positive for THG in 2003. However, Boquillet said the Londoner's form is making him tough to ignore. "He's the best European, it's difficult to imagine organisers not wanting the number one European," he said. Chambers has turned to smaller meets to prepare for the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in August after being shunned by major events. During his comeback, Chambers won the 60m sprint at the European indoor championships this winter and the 100m at the Papaflessia athletics meet in Greece in a season's European-best of 10.06 seconds. "I'm tempted to be a dissident. The more I think about it the more I say to myself that I don't feel compelled not to go against my beliefs," said Boquillet.

"I do not support him being punished twice. He cheated and he was suspended. Now let's trust him." Before making a decision, Boquillet said he wanted to meet Chambers on Thursday at Montreuil, where he is running, to get a better "idea of the man". And the Frenchman will now raise the issue with fellow Golden League event organisers at the first leg of the series in Berlin on 14 June. "I'll see what their reaction will be. I hope I don't put them on their backs, I'd like to be the one who extends a hand to Chambers," he added. Chambers, who was suspended for two years after his failed test, has already had an invite for a German meeting in Dessau rescinded after organisers bowed to pressure - having initially invited Chambers to the event. And the sprinter, who is banned from the Olympics for life, has been told he will not be selected for the British 4x100m relay team at the Berlin worlds. Despite struggling to find meetings, Chambers is aiming to represent Great Britain at the 2009 World Athletics Championships by confirming himself as the fastest Briton over 100m and 200m. His 100m time in Greece put him top of the British rankings, ahead of the 10.11 Marlon Devonish posted in April, while he also tops the 200m rankings with the 20.51 he achieved during his US training spell.
