Pumlani Bangali, from Manchester-based Sale Harriers, won Sunday's Robin Hood marathon in Nottingham for the third time in four years.
The 34-year-old, who completed this year's course in two hours and 25 minutes, also finished first in the 2005 and 2006 races.
Hendrik Zietsman of the Southend AC finish in second place less than 20 seconds behind the winner.
Kenya's Ezekeic Cherod won the half marathon in one hour and five minutes.
That was two minutes ahead of second-placed Darran Bilton of Leeds AC.
The race is one of the largest full and half-marathon combined events.
About 8,000 runners tackled the full and half-marathon courses while about 2,000 others took part in a 2.5 mile (4km) fun run.
