Former world marathon record holder Paul Tergat will not run in the London Marathon on 13 April as the Kenyan does not believe he is fit enough.
The 38-year-old has only just resumed serious training after completing a four-month military course.
And he said: "Right now, I am at 40% of my usual fitness and the London Marathon is rather close. My focus will be on the Beijing Olympics."
His military training was at the time of the recent Kenyan political turmoil.
